WASERVIC creates an environment that empowers and enables the expression, exploration, development, and research of evolving spiritual, ethical, and religious values as they relate to the person, to society, and to the profession of counseling and human development. WASERVIC is an organization of counselors and human development professionals who believe spiritual, ethical, and religious values are essential to the overall development of the person and are committed to integrating these values into the counseling process. They recognize that addressing spiritual and religious aspects can be crucial in helping individuals overcome various challenges, including addiction. Many counselors in the organization have experience working with those struggling to break free from substance abuse, understanding that recovery is a holistic process. Some even collaborate with local support groups, such as Seattle Narcotics Anonymous, to provide comprehensive care for their clients. By incorporating spiritual and ethical values into their approach, WASERVIC counselors aim to help each addict find meaning and purpose beyond their addiction, fostering lasting change and personal growth.
WASERVIC has developed a list of competencies designed to assist the helping professional best address the spiritual and religious issues in counseling. These competencies can be found by clicking here.
